Wild Ireland is a 23 acre wildlife sanctuary and one of the most exciting visitor attractions and education facilities in the Northwest of Ireland. Home to brown bears, European wolves, monkeys lynx and more, here animals live in their natural habitat in the temperate rainforest. Wild Ireland’s mission is to rescue and rehabilitate animals needing sanctuary and help restore our natural environment through native planting. 

Located on the Inishowen Peninsula and Wild Atlantic Way, Wild Ireland is located near Burnfoot, just 20 minutes by car from Redcastle Hotel & Spa.

inish adventures

Inish Adventures offer a wide range of water and land based activities including kayaking along the Donegal coastline, sailing, whitewater rafting, gorge walking archery and many more. A perfect partner for Donegal action and adventure activities, they also have an Adventure Waterpark, on Lough Foyle.  

Based in Moville, a short distance from Redcastle Hotel & Spa, Inish Adventures offer taster sessions, half day and full day experiences that can be for a single activity or multiple activities. Suitable for adults and children aged 7 and over. Visit the website

Nestled amidst the breathtaking scenery of Malin Head, County Donegal, lies a unique community – a herd of 37 playful alpacas. These intelligent and social creatures live a life rich in connection, hierarchy, and adaptation, perfectly attuned to their environment. 

Visitors to the Wild Alpaca Way can delve into the fascinating world of these animals and discover how they live and thrive in this windswept paradise of Malin Head.

Established in 2019 by John McGonigle and his family who wanted to keep the land in its natural state, John decided to create a farm to home these mild animals, protecting the local countryside in doing so.

Located in Knockamany, just above Five Finger Strand, visitors get the opportunity to take a walk with their own alpaca, with lots of amazing photo opportunities along the way. Walks take place daily at 11am, 1pm and 3pm.

Cooley Equastrian centre

What better way to start your day than a canter along a gorgeous beach or a trek on horseback around the quiet country roads of the Inishowen Peninsula.

Located just outside Moville and only a 12 minute drive from Redcastle Hotel & Spa, Cooley Equestrian Centre is a family run centre that caters to all abilities, from first timers, to experienced riders, in addition to offering 30 minute children’s holiday rides.

Doagh Famine Village

One of Ireland’s and Donegal’s most unique experiences, visited by people from across the world. Doagh Famine Village takes visitors on a journey through life in Ireland, using a combination of story-telling and life size exhibits including period cottages, to show how families learned to survive and adapt as society evolved from the Great Famine in the 1840s to the present day.

Tour guidebooks are available in a variety of languages for those visiting from overseas with regular guided tours throughout the day. The purpose built visitor centre has a range of facilities including a café, with superb views out across the bay to Malin, Five Finger Strand and across the Atlantic Ocean.

Doagh Famine Village is a 30 minute drive from Redcastle Hotel & Spa, near Ballyliffin.

Moville Pottery is a local business, owned and run by Lowry Wasson and Brian McLaughlin, producing hand crafted pottery items of the highest quality. Visitors can explore the gift shop displaying beautiful products and get creative, by painting their own mug as a personal momento of their visit.

Located in Moville just 6 minutes drive from Redcastle Hotel & Spa, Paint Your Own Pot sessions start on the hour and last 40 minutes.

True North Boating
Experience the thrill and adventure of the Wild Atlantic Way from the sea, exploring the breathtaking Inishowen coastline, near Malin Head, with True North Boating.

Located near Culdaff, just 20 minutes by car from Redcastle Hotel & Spa, True North Boating offer both private charter services and scheduled tours, including Sea Safari and Inishtrahull Island, the most northerly part of Ireland.

A Sea Safari not only offers stunning views of the Inishowen coastline from Culdaff to Malin Head, with a unique perspective, but also the opportunity to see spectacular marine wildlife in their natural habitat, including bottlenose dolphins, basking sharks, minke whales and grey seals.

Malin Head and Inishtrahull Island are also both well known for their avian wildlife, which includes Gannet, Kittiwake, Eider Ducks, Guillemots and other breeding migratory birds.

Tours vary in length from 1.5 to 4 hours.
