Donegal Walking and Hiking Trails
Whether you are looking for a gentle stroll, or a more challenging hike, the beautiful and unspoilt Donegal trails are a favourite with walkers of all abilities and nature lovers. A number of local tour guides do offer guided walks but many of the trails are suitable for both self-guided walkers and groups.
You can choose a self-guided walk or hike from the Redcastle Hotel & Spa’s own walking booklet, which includes our top picks in the area with key information. Plus we provide a complimentary Redcastle Bag, when you quote WALKING/HIKING when booking, with essentials including poncho, water and snack bar.
For serious hikers, Mount Errigal is Donegal’s tallest peak, at 751 m (2,464 ft), near Gweedore. Part of Donegal’s Seven Sisters range it is the steepest ascent, and work has gone into making the hike much more enjoyable, with the addition of a path through the boggy section and steps towards the summit.
