The Hottest Bridal Trends for 2017

Tuesday, 04 July 2017
Richie Crawford, Buyer and Manager at McElhinney’s Bridal Rooms in Ballybofey, talks about the hottest Bridal Trends.

One of the most popular styles of dresses is a fit and flare/mermaid dress. One of the main reasons why so many brides choose this style is how flattering it is. A fit and flare helps create and hourglass figure and works with a range of body shapes, defining the waist and flaring out.  Lace is still extremely popular among Donegal brides and ivory remains the favourite colour.

One of the biggest trends for 2017 is the plunging neckline. This can range from a subtle V-neck right up to the most daring of deep V’s.  We have seen it on almost all catwalks from all major designers.

Sheer panels are also coming on strong this season! Whether you love panels or hate them, there is no denying that they will make you stand out on your big day. Most designers who do panels also offer the option to have them filled in, in case you love the dress but you are not a fan of the sheer look. These trends set a path towards non-traditional and non-conventional styles; brides increasingly seek that distinctive style.

From a fabric point of view, lace remains the main fabric of choice but satin is making a comeback, a major statement in a classic way.
