Jay Doherty is one of the top wedding photographers in the North West of ireland. Originally from Donegal, his creative and natural style has scored him many awards and recognitions throughout the years and the compliments from the couples he's worked with. He has experienced many weddings so today, he is sharing a few tips for those brides and grooms that are about to tie the knot, so they can enjoy their day to the max!
1. Relax
There is no right or wrong, chill out on the pressure, go with your heart, have fun, mark the occasion, do not be afraid to break the rules
2. Keep it simple
Simplicity is key. Keep a realistic timetable, keep travel short if possible, make sure your minutes are spent loving your experience, and your people.
3. Accept, don’t expect
Enjoy the day for the journey it takes you on – a wedding day will take you on it’s own path, it will throw wee hiccups and challenges at times, but will offer so much joy if you just breathe and go with the flow.
4. Eat, drink, breathe
Bring a wee snack or a picnic for after your ceremony, as you may not have eaten for a good few hours and you may not sit to dinner for a few hours yet. Life is better when you have some food in your belly and a wee class of champagne in your hand.
5. Love with abandon
You might never have all these great people together in the same place again….ever. Dish out the hugs, hold hands, give thanks, let your world know how much they mean to you and share the love. Don’t forget to kiss your new husband, hold hands, take a bit of time alone and tell him you are in love with him now more than ever.
