Foyle Search & Rescue are a voluntary-based charity that covers search and rescue operations and prevents suicide in Derry and Northern Ireland.
The Redcastle Hotel has announced Foyle Search & Rescue as their new designated partner of the year 2019. The hotel nominates one charity each year to support and has backed
i.C.A.R.E and
The Victoria Thompson Scholarship in the past, among others.
Foyle Search and Rescue is voluntary-based charity operating in Derry in Northern Ireland. It was set up by local people in 1993 in response to the alarmingly high number of drownings in the river and has adopted the role of preventing suicide.
Their volunteers selflessly give up hours of their personal time every week to help those in need by patrolling the river Foyle and offering support to families who have lost a loved one to suicide. They also provide an education programme on water safety and suicide awareness to local schools, workplaces and community groups.
David Cahill, General Manager at The Redcastle Hotel commented on the new partnership: “We are delighted to support Foyle Search & Rescue. It is a wonderful charity that supports the local community and drives awareness on such a critical issue as suicide. We hope that our support helps them make a real difference”.
The Redcastle Hotel has organised an event to kickstart this partnership, a
Coffee Morning in support of Foyle Search & Rescue in the hotel. It will take place on Friday 3rd May, on the deck and everyone is welcome to attend and show their support. Tea and coffee and nibbles will be served and a draw will take place on the day for some fantastic prizes.
