Sarah and Daryl got married at St Columba Church in Drung on 2nd June 2018, followed by a beautiful reception at the Redcastle Hotel. While most couples take years to plan their wedding day, Sarah and Daryl did it in a record time, just a few months! However, according to Sarah, they had been planning their big day for a very long time.
Their love story began fourteen years ago at Oxegen Festival, as the likes of Green Day or Foo Fighters became the soundtrack of their first memories together. “We both knew immediately that we had met someone special and, by the time the weekend was over, we were telling our friends that we had met ‘the one’!”, Sarah reminisces. Sarah was living in Donegal and Daryl was living in Dublin at the time, but they were determined to make it work! “Neither of us had ever had that connection with anyone before”, they admit.
They got engaged quite quickly after they met, and they decided to book the Redcastle Hotel for their wedding… nine years ago. Unfortunately, they were forced to postpone their wedding plans on three occasions. They considered eloping and even getting married abroad; however, it all changed when they visited the Redcastle Hotel for a carvery lunch and a family activity with
Inish Adventures.
“We fell in love with the place all over again and realised this was really where the wedding should take place”, says Sarah.
The couple wanted somewhere to showcase Donegal and a venue that was good value for money, offered great food and was affordable for their guests. They got married in St Columba’s Church in Drung, followed by a beautiful reception at The Redcastle Hotel. “We feel that we could not have chosen a better venue. The hotel and the staff thoroughly delivered on all our hopes and expectations”.
